Description
The '59 Bridge Model (SH-1) is a vintage-output humbucker that's wonderful for rock, blues, and more. Its vintage-inspired coils give it an airy quality firmly rooted in the PAF family, and the wax-coated alnico 5 bar magnet makes it compatible with lighter guitar strings and more powerful amplifiers than those used in the 1950s. The result is a pickup with plenty of vintage sonic character, but with brighter treble and a slightly more compressed sound.
The '59 neck pickup is one of our most popular pickups because it's so versatile. It's designed in the spirit of 1950s PAF humbuckers, with sweet sustain and a warm, full tone that retains a clear attack. We made a few improvements to subtly modernize the design and make it more adaptable to different playing styles. The treble is slightly boosted to improve the clarity of the pick attack, and the midrange is slightly rolled off to provide an open, smooth sound that's excellent for preserving the clarity of individual notes in a chord. The '59 neck pickup was originally designed to pair with the '59 bridge pickup, but countless players combine it with a high-output bridge humbucker, such as a JB or Custom. It's also a popular choice for Telecasters with humbucker routing.
